Is David Lloyd Worth It?

Last updated: September 2026

David Lloyd is worth it when you use it as a complete health club. The membership costs more than a basic gym because it is built around a wider combination of gym, swimming, fitness classes, racquets, family spaces, Clubrooms and, at higher levels, premium wellness benefits.

When David Lloyd delivers good value

The strongest value comes from frequent, varied use. If you swim, attend classes, use the gym, spend time in the Clubroom and play racquets, the monthly price can replace several separate activities. Families who use pool time and children’s activities regularly can also gain more from the club model than from a gym-only membership.

  • You train, swim or attend classes multiple times each week.
  • You would otherwise pay separately for racquet-court use.
  • You want somewhere to work, relax or meet after exercise.
  • Your family will use the club consistently.
  • You will use Platinum extras often enough to justify the upgrade.

When a cheaper gym is a better choice

If your routine is only a short weights or cardio session a few times a week, a lower-cost gym is likely to give better value. The same is true if you are not interested in pools, classes, racquets or club spaces. Paying for Platinum simply because it is the highest package makes little sense unless the added facilities will become regular habits.

How to decide without guessing

Use a day pass or 14-day trial. Visit during your normal times, try the facilities you expect to use and calculate a rough cost per visit based on realistic attendance. Then choose Club, Plus or Platinum based on actual use. Value comes from a package that fits your routine, not from the number of possible benefits.
